Ground Penetrating Radar Post Tensioned Cable Locating - Cleveland Clinic Hospitals

The Cleveland Clinic Hospital system in Cleveland, OH has been drastically improving its existing facilities and building new structures the past decade. The JJ Garage off Euclid Avenue is one of the newest buildings at the Clinic. The JJ Garage is a 6 level parking structure with medical offices on the south and east wings of the building. Although the main structure was built two years ago, a new addition was recently completed on the north side.

As is common among parking structures, the JJ Garage was built using post-tension cables for its main structural support. Ground Penetrating Radar System has worked for several contractors throughout the construction process to layout the post-tension cables prior to drilling into the concrete. Recently, Ground Penetrating Radar System was called out by Northern Ohio Plumbing to provide locating of the post-tension cables prior to drilling (12) 5” holes, which would be used for floor drains.

Once Ground Penetrating Radar arrived on site, it was just a matter of a couple hours to have the 12 holes cleared for drilling. The contractor was extremely thrilled with the turn around time. The technology and service proved once again that ground penetrating radar systems were the right choice for concrete scanning.

Rebar and Post-Tensioning layout is the most common concrete scanning application performed by Ground Penetrating Radar Systems.  Through the use of Ground Penetrating Radar , our technicians are able to precisely map out rebar, post-tensioning, and any electrical conduits that may be embedded in concrete slabs.
